2018 TABLAS CREEK "COTES DE TABLAS ROUGE" ADELAIDA DISTRICT PASO ROBLES RED RHONE BLEND

2018 TABLAS CREEK "COTES DE TABLAS ROUGE" ADELAIDA DISTRICT PASO ROBLES RED RHONE BLEND, CALIFORNIA. 45% Grenache 33% Syrah 12% Counoise 10% Mourvèdre. (Organic / Biodynamic/ Regenerative)

94 points Wine Enthusiast: “There’s an utter smoothness to this wine that must come from the decades of experience that the winery has in blending Rhône varieties. This mix of 45% Grenache, 33% Syrah, 12% Counoise and 10% Mourvèdre starts with cherry, hibiscus, crushed gravel and cola on the nose. The palate combines berry, baking-spice and cappuccino flavors, wrapped in a leathery structure.

92 points Wine Spectator: Precise yet expressive, with elegantly complex black cherry and raspberry flavors accented by smoky garrigue and cracked pepper flavors that build tension toward medium-bodied tannins. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Counoise. Drink now through 2027.

Tablas Creek needs no introduction. Jointly founded by the Perrin family of Chateau Beaucastel fame and the Haas family of Vineyard Brands, Tablas Creek is ground zero for the Rhone movement in California. Founded in 1967 in the Adelaide district of Paso Robles, Tablas Creek was built from the ground up and planted to vine cuttings imported from the Rhone Valley. They also created a grapevine nursery and are leading lights for organic, Biodynamic and restorative agriculture. Inspired by the “Cotes du Rhone” tradition, “Cotes de Tablas” is a Tablas Creek’s take on a classic Rhone blend, made in a “drink or hold” style that is loaded with charm to enjoy tonight but has the capacity to age. Based on Grenache with portions of Syrah, Counoise, and Mourvedre, the Cotes de Tablas Rouge always over-delivers in quality for the price. Aged in large oak barrels, this shows all the ripe fruit and spice we love in good Cotes du Rhone, with the complexity and depth of character from the very best Paso Robles terroir. Rich red and black fruits mingle with notes of cracked pepper, chocolate, and fig for a complex and fully satisfying wine that finishes with lingering savory notes and chalky tannins. This is delicious with grilled steaks, pastas with meat sauces, and rich beef stews. That being said, it also has great potential to age and would make a worthy addition to any cellar.

About: Tablas Creek is a pioneer of California’s Rhone movement. Founded in 1989, it is the culmination of a friendship between two of the international wine community’s leading families dating back to 1967: the Perrin family of Chateau de Beaucastel and the Haas family of Vineyard Brands. After a four-year search, the partners chose Paso Robles, California for its many similarities to the Southern Rhone and began the lengthy process of importing vine cuttings, building a grapevine nursery, and creating an estate vineyard from the ground up. Today, the vineyards at Tablas Creek are proudly Biodynamic® and organic certified by Demeter USA. (Producer)
