2018 TABLAS CREEK "COTES DE TABLAS BLANC" ADELAIDA DISTRICT PASO ROBLES WHITE RHONE BLEND

2018 TABLAS CREEK "COTES DE TABLAS BLANC" ADELAIDA DISTRICT PASO ROBLES WHITE RHONE BLEND, CALIFORNIA. 39% Viognier, 36% Grenache Blanc, 19% Marsanne, 6% Roussanne

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Tightly wound on the nose, this blend of 39% Viognier, 36% Grenache Blanc, 19% Marsanne and 6% Roussanne shows lime pith, wet chalk, river stone and a hint of pineapple on the nose. There are creamy flavors of pineapple and mango on the palate, yet the underlying ash and chalk tones keep everything in check."

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blended barrel sample, the 2018 Côtes de Tablas Blanc is made up of 40% Viognier, 35% Grenache Blanc, 20% Marsanne and 5% Roussanne. It's super minerally on the nose to begin, with petrichor, gunflint and toasty notes, very slowly opening to citrus peel, fresh tree fruits, quince peel and baker's yeast with spicy touches. Light to medium-bodied, it's broad with fleshy fruits, juicy acidity and a long, floral-tinged finish."

91 points Wine Spectator "Crisp and focused, balancing fleshy apricot, melon and nectarine flavors and more juicy notes of Meyer lemon and lime zest, with a thread of saline minerality. Finishes fresh and lively. Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne and Roussanne."

A Rhone-inspired California classic. Tablas Creek's Cotes de Tablas Blanc take its inspiration from the traditional white Rhone blends of the the Southern Rhone region of France. A blend of four estate-grown white Rhône varietals, this features the floral aromatics and stone fruit of Viognier, the crisp acids and rich mouthfeel of Grenache Blanc, and the structure and minerality of Marsanne and Roussanne. It leads with an elegant nose of apricots cut with lemon, Asian spices, and crushed rock. The mouth is balanced right between Viognier and Grenache Blanc character, with flavors of nectarine and lemon verbena. A clean, fresh, and elegant finish rounds out the wine, leaving a lingering impression of sea spray minerality. This versatile white pairs with many foods, from mussels Marinière and seafood to green salads with avocado and citrus dressing, white meats and fish.

About: Tablas Creek is a pioneer of California’s Rhone movement. Founded in 1989, it is the culmination of a friendship between two of the international wine community’s leading families dating back to 1967: the Perrin family of Chateau de Beaucastel and the Haas family of Vineyard Brands. After a four-year search, the partners chose Paso Robles, California for its many similarities to the Southern Rhone and began the lengthy process of importing vine cuttings, building a grapevine nursery, and creating an estate vineyard from the ground up. Today, the vineyards at Tablas Creek are proudly Biodynamic® and organic certified by Demeter USA. (Producer)
