2023 LIQUID FARM SANTA BARBARA COUNTY PINOT NOIR
2023 LIQUID FARM SANTA BARBARA COUNTY PINOT NOIR, CALIFORNIA. 100% Pinot Noir.
Though designated Santa Barbara County on the label, this was sourced entirely from some of the most prized vineyards in Sta. Rita Hills. Partial stem inclusion and a kiss of new French oak aging add lovely dimension to this evocative Pinot's black cherry, sassafras, cinnamon and clove aromas and flavors that leap from the glass. Try it with: Asian-style duck, grilled salmon, Indian meat curries, grilled portobello mushrooms.
About: Wanting to support local vintners but not finding wines made in the old world style he sought, Jeff Nelson realized he had to get his hands dirty and staring making wine. Working with fruit from the cool-climate terroirs of Sta. Rita Hills in Santa Barbara County and inspired by the great wines of Burgundy, Liquid Farm’s first vintage was in 2009. Their mission today remains the same: support local viticulture while honoring terroir and tradition. They see wine as a product of the earth and human touch; what happens above ground and what happens below are equally important. It follows that they work with some of the most sought after organic, Biodynamic and sustainably farmed vineyards in the region. This concept is also captured beautifully in their labels, which depict a mythical botanical image that combines qualities of root, flower and fruit with the vintage placed above the line, reflecting the influence of the year, and AVA placed below the line, paying homage to the soil.
