2016 PALI "HUNTINGTON" SANTA BARBARA COUNTY PINOT NOIR
92 points *Editors Choice* Wine Enthusiast: "This bottling is one of the most reliably delicious Pinot Noirs for less than $30 each vintage, and this year is one of the best. Warm, even buttery aromas of brioche, strawberry jam and baking spice prove immensely inviting, leading into an approachable yet complex palate where fruit-punch flavors are lifted by clove, tart plum skins and vanilla on the finish." (02/2018)
91 points Wine Spectator: "Dark cherry and dried blueberry flavors are richly spiced in this juicy style. Notes of dried beef intensify on the finish, which features chocolate and mint accents. Drink now through 2020." (08/2018)
This wine is a blend of 100% Pinot Noir from multiple Santa Barbara County Vineyards. A significant portion of this wine comes from the Pali estate vineyard in the Sta Rita Hills, with the balance coming from vineyards in the Santa Maria Valley and Los Alamos areas. Barrel aged for about 10 months using approx 25% new French Oak, this delicious Pinot has aromas of cherries, strawberry, baking spices and toasted oak with dark red fruit flavors, earthy mushrooms and loads of spice on the palate. Silky-textured with medium-weight, this is a terrific Pinot for the money.
About: Pali began in 2005 when entrepreneurs Tim Perr and Scott Knight pooled their resources and their passions to found a winery dedicated to producing small lots of artisanal Pinot Noir, their favorite varietal. The winery is named after Tim and Scott’s coastal hometown of Pacific Palisades (Pali for short), located on the west side of Los Angeles. Many of the wines bear names of Pacific Palisades neighborhoods (Huntington, Riviera, and Bluffs) and streets (Charm Acres). In 2007, after producing two successful vintages of Pinot Noir, Pali outgrew its small, "garagista" style production facility in Lompoc. They built a new, larger, state of the art winery. The new Pali winery was Lompoc's first building erected for the purpose of wine making. (Winery)
