A rising star cult producer in Champagne, Mousse Fils is located in village of Cuisles in the Right Bank of the Vallee de la Marne where Pinot Meunier is king. A hardier grape than Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Meunier does better in the colder, more frost prone conditions and heavier clay soils that characterize this part of Champagne. And the talented young Cedric Mousse makes some of the most exciting Meunier-based Champagnes around.
Mousse Fils made history as the first to produce a 100% Meunier Special Club Champagne, starting with the 2005 vintage. Also noteworthy: they farm organically with a serious commitment to working with as little of a carbon footprint as possible.
“Special Club” is a Champagne produced by members of an exclusive club of growers meant to represent the highest achievement of their respective cellars, produced in only the best years. All the fruit for Mousse Fils Special Club comes from the lieu dit of “les Fortes Terres” in Cuisles, where the crystalline mineral “illite” gives a green inflection to the clay soils, a terroir feature unique to the village
The 2014 vintage has 3g/L dosage (Extra Brut). Disgorged on 11/18/18. Full-bodied and complex, yet so bright and vibrant! This is truly a one of a kind Champagne and a must try for any Champagneophile.
