2015 KARL LAWRENCE NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON
2015 KARL LAWRENCE NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON, CALIFORNIA. 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9.5% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, and 0.5% Petite Sirah.
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon from winemaker Bruce Devlin is also terrific. Incorporating close to 10% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, and tiny amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah, like the 2016, it was brought up all in new barrels. Its deep purple color is followed by classic Cabernet notes of green tobacco, cedar, new leather, and plenty of darker berry and raspberry-like fruits. It has the more forward, sexy style of the vintage, plenty of classic, if not old-school, character, and should keep for 15+ years. It’s another smoking value as well." (1/2019)
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9.5% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 0.5% Petite Sirah. Deep garnet-purple colored, it sings of black and red currants, crushed black berries and black cherries with touches of menthol, cedar chest and Marmite toast. Medium to full-bodied with plenty of energy, it has a bright, refreshing style with plush, ripe tannins, finishing long and juicy." (LPB) (10/2018)
Winemaker's Notes: The 2015 harvest became known as the year of the heat spike. Several days of 100-degree heat matured the tannins in the fruit while the vines held their flavor profile. Winemaker Bruce Devlin says that we were able “to achieve a wine that is youthful in its expression and yet mature in its elegance.” Bruce describes the vintage as fruit forward with round and velvety tannins and structure. Blended with 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9.5% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, and 0.5% Petite Sirah.
