Hakata 16 Year Old Sherry Cask Japanese Whisky is a distinguished spirit originating from the Hikari Distillery in Fukuoka, Japan, which has been distilling since 1912. Crafted from 100% barley, with a portion fermented using koji—a technique traditionally employed in shochu production—this whisky embodies a unique fusion of Japanese craftsmanship and innovative aging methods. Matured for 16 years in seasoned sherry casks, some of which are stored in open-air warehouses exposed to Fukuoka's fluctuating temperatures, the whisky develops a rich and complex flavor profile. Tasting notes include aromas of Seville orange marmalade, milk chocolate, ground pepper, and soft rounded oak. The palate offers an oily texture bursting with bitter plain chocolate, citrus oil, fresh walnut, black cherry, and ground ginger, culminating in a hazelnut finish.
