Wines of the Douro Valley, Portugal: Premier Club (June 2022)
Featured Premier Club Wines:
The approach to its wines starts in the vineyard. As Pedro Coelho likes to say, we look for pure and traditional wines with a well-marked identity, where the main focus is the grape and the vine .
Grapes harvested manually starting the journey long before the harvest, the objective is to produce wines that reflect the beauty of the vineyards and the particularities of the land, where the priority is to maintain and transmit the sense of place - the Terroir - unique to the Douro.
Naturally, the climate, the soil, the vines and the grapes are the main actors and each harvest is fair.
A work done in order to transmit, later, in the cellar, all its potential working in a philosophy of minimal intervention, with autochthonous, indigenous and low So2 yeasts, avoiding all unnatural additives. (Winery) @pormenorvinhos
2018 Pormenor Douro Tinto | Douro Valley, Portugal
Produced from the traditional red grapes of the Douro, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, and Rufete.
89 points Wine Enthusiast! "This is a rich, tannin-layered wine. That dryness is ready to contrast with the ripe black currant fruits and the powerful structure. The wine is set to age further, so wait to drink until 2022."
2019 Pormenor Douro Branco | Douro Valley, Portugal
A wine made with the traditional grapes of the Douro, Rabigato, Malvasia fina, Codega do Larinho, and Gouveio.
Clean and vibrant straw color with fresh floral aromas and strong minerality. Acidity well marked with evidence of citrus, pineapple, yellow apple, and banana peel.
