The October 2021 Premier Club places us at the convergence of two rivers, The Loire and Cher, within Montlouis-Sur-Loire. A region dedicated to Chenin Blanc. And then we travel halfway around the world to enjoy another Loire Valley varietal, Gamay Noir. Only this time within the high elevation Sierra Foothills region of El Dorado.

Featured Premier Club Wines:

2019 TAILLE AUX LOUPS "REMUS" MONTLOUIS-SUR-LOIRE

Now one of the Loire's leading top-quality producers Jacky Blot was a négociant in Tours before he took over the Domaine de la Taille aux Loups in Montlouis in 1988. All of their wines, even the base wine for the sparkling Montlouis, are fermented and aged in barriques of various ages. Rémus comes from a number of parcels of vines between 50 and 80 years old. The barrels used are 20% new with the rest between one and four years old. The 19 will be bottled in June. When tasted in early February it had fine balance of crisp fruit and acidity with a touch of pineapple.

2019 TESSIER "BARSOTTI VINEYARD" EL DORADO COUNTY GAMAY NOIR

Hand-picked whole clusters; foot stomped and followed by five months in neutral French oak and stainless steel. Dusty notes of raspberry, black cherry, and cranberry are well-balanced yet wild. The velvety finish brings out black pepper, coriander, and licorice flavors while still maintaining the rugged fruity flavors.
