2020 SALVETTA NOSIOLA "VIGNETI DELLE DOLOMITI" SKIN CONTACT, ALTO ADIGE, ITALY. 100% Nosiola
Winemaker Notes: The three biodynamic vineyards planted on these limestone cliffs are all dedicated to the local Nosiola grape variety. The six-century old Salvetta estate is the first and oldest cellar to bottle Nosiola. Today Salvetta Nosiola is widely regarded as one of two definitive examples of this transcendent grape. If you pick up a copy of the current Slow Wine Guide, you'll see both Salvetta and Foradori named as the region's two top white wine producers (with Salvetta Nosiola winning the coveted "Top Wine/Vino Alto" award for the last 4 consecutive years). The Noisola is a product of 7-12 days of skin-maceration, 8 months aging on lees in mature Acacia barrels, and finally 4+ years of aging in-bottle; the result is a richly textured, hauntingly aromatic wine with a glorious hazelnut color. White flowers and stone fruit dominate while the weighty mouth feel is never cumbersome, instead it is lifted by a classic mineral structure and a slight salinity.
