Keenan Winery, founded in 1974 in Napa Valley’s Spring Mountain District, has built a reputation for elegantly structured mountain wines with sustainable practices—including solar power and estate fruit from rocky, fog-influenced vineyards. The 2022 Merlot from Ghisletta Vineyard is a single-vineyard expression sourced from steep, gravelly slopes at high elevation—conditions that promote concentration and complexity. Hand-harvested and fermented in small batches, the wine is aged for 18 months in a blend of new and neutral French and American oak barrels (~33% new), allowing the fruit to develop layered texture without overwhelming oak. Expect deep aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and cassis, followed by nuanced hints of cocoa, coffee bean, and subtle spice. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied with velvety tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, fruit-driven finish—an expressive Napa Merlot that offers both power and polish.
