2021 MAISON DE MONTILLE LE CLOS DU CHATEAU BOURGOGNE BLANC BURGUNDY, FRANCE. 100% Chardonnay.
About: Deux Montille wines are known for their great aromatic purity. They always favor balance and elegance over power and extraction. The wines are classic expressions of Burgundy, of their appellations in general and of their specific terroirs in particular. The farming methods we use contribute to this individual style, and their winemaking methods aim to avoid excessive outside influences in order to bring out the equilibrium that can be found naturally in Burgundian terroir.
The family's origins can be traced back to the middle of the 17th century at Créancey in the Auxois region, with the Lords of Commeau. According to Hubert de Montille, "the domaine pre-dates the revolution; it was created in the 1750s." Over the ensuing two centuries, the families great holdings were gradually sold off, and the remaining harvests sold to negociants. Then, starting in 1947, Hubert de Montille returned to domaine bottling, one of the first to believe in the future of the bottle, changing the course of the future of the domaine. Today, son Etienne and daughter Alix carry on the family torch at de Montille. Together, they created 'Deux Montille Sœur-Frère', a negociant house devoted primarily to white wines. "All our Sœur-Frère grapes are rigorously selected, harvested and vinified with the same know-how and philosophy as our domaine grapes".
