2022 JOEY TENSLEY "FUNDAMENTAL" CENTRAL COAST CABERNET SAUVIGNON
2022 JOEY TENSLEY "FUNDAMENTAL" CENTRAL COAST CABERNET SAUVIGNON, CALIFORNIA. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Wine Spectator Top 100 Winemaker!
Sourced from Paso Robles and Santa Barbara County, this Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon made by star winemaker Joey Tensley offers the best of both appellations. Fresh acidity, floral nuance and vibrant fruit from the Santa Barbara vineyards; textured concentration, deep color and decadent flavors from the Paso Robles sites. This ia a great standalone wine for its approachability, plus expresses excellent spice and complexity to pair with a meal. Aged 10 months in neutral French oak.
Wine Advocate: "One of the rising superstars in California, Joey Tensley continues to focus on single vineyard Syrahs and Rhone blends from Santa Barbara County. All of the wines are treated identically in the cellar and see just under a year in neutral oak (the Colson Canyon sees a small amount of new oak). They show their origin beautifully and have distinctive, unique personalities. In addition, they age beautifully and continue to be offered at fantastic prices. In short, don’t miss these wines."
About: Fundamental is the second label of the critically acclaimed Tensley wines, established in 1998 by Joey Tensely in Santa Barbara County. For his first vintage, Joey produced 100 cases, while serving as the assistant winemaker at Beckmen Vineyards, where he was given space to launch his own label.
Three years later, in 2001, Joey relocated to Buellton, CA to open his own winery, producing 750 cases of wines that immediately appeared on some of the country's top wine lists. This same year, Matt Kramer added two of Tensley's 2001 Syrah wines to the Wine Spectator's Top Ten Wines in the World list abd the rest is history. (Importer)
