About Coqueliclot's 58 acre vineyard is an organically farmed property in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley. Pronounced (ko-klee-ko), the word in French is the name for the striking red poppy flower that graces the French countryside, as well as all the labels on their wines. Certified Organic, Sustainable farming and gentle, meticulous winemaking techniques converge to produce hand made, limited production wines that are a true celebration of life.
Founded by Bernard Rosenson, whose experience living as a young boy in Paris and vacationing in the French countryside inspired a lifetime of appreciation for food, wine, gastronomy, agriculture, and hospitality. He purchased the vineyard in 2005, located in the heart of Santa Ynez Valley in the Los Olivos district, and it has been organic almost since inception. As Proprietor of Coquelicot Wines, Bernard stands for low production, low yield, and low a Brix level, and an early harvest. At the production level, he stands for low alcohol, low use of new oak barrels, French oak, steel tanks, low or no malolactic acid fermentation, low sulfur additives, and reliance on French techniques and protocols.
