2020 ALVARO PALACIOS "CAMINS DEL PRIORAT" PRIORAT, SPAIN. 40% Garnacha, 30% Samso (Carignan), 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah.

Alvaro Palacios is a Spanish winemaking leader and visionary whose famed "L'Ermita" Priorat is considered one of the most important wines of modern Spain. This is his entry-level Priorat, from vineyards in and around the village of Gratallops featuring the region's famous schist soils. It is based on the traditional grapes Garnacha and Samso (aka, Carignan) with Cabernet, Syrah and in some vintages, Merlot, adding weight and richness. It fermented in a combination of stainless steel and large wooden vats, and aged eight months in oak barrels and wooden vats. Full-bodied and complex with ripe flavors and fine tannins, this complements roasted meats seasoned with savory herbs, from roast chicken to pork and beef.
