90-92 points Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru les Chaignots comes from 1.55 hectares of 60-year-old vines. It has a well defined, slightly masculine bouquet that requires some encouragement. Darker fruit here than the Village Cru, yet still detailed. The palate is brisk and lively on the opening, quite citric in the mouth, darker fruit than say, Mugneret-Gibourg's own Les Chaignots -- but with a brightness and lucidity coming through on the "playful" finish. 90 points Stephen Tanzer: "Good medium-deep red. Good lift and enticing earthy complexity to the aromas of redcurrant and leather. In an obviously cooler style in the mouth than the 2015 version, with juicy hints of mint and pepper giving energy and lift to the middle palate. This rather suave '14 offers a fine-grained texture, good density and a firm tannic spine, finishing with good energy and lift. While it should provide relatively early accessibility, it should also offer mid-term aging potential." (03/2017)
