From the winemaker: "Ruby red with garnet highlights. Opulent and intense on the nose, with nuances of ripe red fruit and intriguing herbal notes. Well-balanced on the palate with a lively acidity that lends vitality and freshness to a very elegant and complex wine. A hint of black pepper accompanies the finish. The softest of tannins are a hallmark of the body of this fine wine.
Perfect when paired with cheeses, meat and game; excellent with pasta and cold cuts."
94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Podere Brizio 2015 Brunello di Montalcino (an estate owned by Dievole) is a full and generous wine ready for a serving of veal and vegetables. This is an elegant and impactful expression of Sangiovese that impresses thanks to the purity and the fine nature of its aromas. Delicate fruit nuances of dried raspberry and cherry cede to dried spice, earth and crushed flowers. Those glorious floral aromas are nicely underlined with layers of lilac, violet and lavender. A touch of dusty mineral fits in smoothly on the finish."
About: The estate was established in 1996 when Roberto Bellini sold Azienda Agricola Chiesa di Santa Restituta, keeping the best vineyards, and entered in partnership with the Cannoni-Mazzi family. In 2013 Podere Brizio changed its ownership and is now part of IAG Toscana Srl, together with Fattoria Dievole in Chianti Classico. The excellent south-west exposure, the ideal type of soil and the climate make the zone of Santa Restituta, where the vineyards stand, one of the best areas of Montalcino. Further 3 hectares of vineyards will be replanted in 2015, will be entirely Sangiovese vines for Brunello di Montacino production. The Brunello and Rosso produced are classic, elegant reflecting the extreme care that is taken in the vineyard and in the cellar. Starting from harvest 2013, all the wines produced will be exclusively aged in big French oak barrels of a capacity of 50 hectolitres. (Importer)
