2016 TAVIGNANO "IL PESTIFERO" FRIZZANTE SUR LIE MARCHE, ITALY. 75% Verdicchio, 15% Sangiovese and 15% Malvasia. (Organic)

It's bright and crisp, with a dry, quenching finish." (07/2018) This unique sparking wine is made from a blend of Verdicchio, Sangiovese and Malvasia, from southwest-facing hillside vineyards. It gets its sparkle from secondary fermentation in bottle, and was aged two months before release. The result is a lively sparkler with citrus, floral, herb and mineral aromas and flavors. A nice creamy mousse fills the mouth, and the mouthwatering finish begs for a second sip! Refreshing on its own as well as with many foods, from traditional Mediterranean fare to more exotic dishes.
About: Tenuta di Tavignano is located in the area of Cingoli (province of Macerata), in the heart of the “Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico” and of the “Rosso Piceno DOC ” appellations set against the beauty of the Marche hills. The property is on hills that dominate the valleys of the Esino and Musone rivers, on one side one can see the San Vicino mountain and on the other side the Adriatic sea and the Conero Riviera. The climatic and soil conditions - such as ideal altitude, exposure, day/night temperature range, soft slopes, absence of fog and optimal northern ventilation - create a perfect microclimate for a low environmental impact viticulture. The estate is now in the conversion phase to be certified organic. The soils composition - medium texture characterized by marly-calcareous rocks – gives a characteristic mineral and sapid flavour to the wines.
