2016 ST REY (HAARMEYER WINE CELLARS) "SRV" CALIFORNIA ZINFANDEL, CALIFORNIA. 100% Zinfandel.

An exciting new discovery for us, Haarmeyer Wine Cellars is a father and son winemaking duo based in Sacramento. They specialize in historically grown varieties and newer plantings. They are known for their Chenin Blancs, but make some very exciting Zinfandels, too. About: "Haarmeyer Wine Cellars is a family team, started in 2008 by sourcing fruit from a vineyard farmed by Ron Silva just down the road in the little town of Galt, California. At the time they were interested primarily in making port and other wines using Spanish and Portuguese varieties, mainly because of the dry climate and the proximity of this vineyard to Sacramento. The place seemed right for the numerous varieties of Iberian grapes Ron was farming. This lead them to consider other sites and as things expandedthey evolved to trying to define and express terroir. Soon they began using the phrase "Sacramento terroir" to describe the purpose of St. Rey. To quote: "This area of thought and practice is a clearing in the forest; a clearing in the industrial winemaking jungle where we cultivate Sacramento Terroir.
