2016 PERRAUD "TERRES BLANCHES" BEAUJOLAIS-VILLAGES BLANC, BURGUNDY, FRANCE. 100% Chardonnay.
Only 150 cases produced! From a small plot located in the lieu-dit “Saint-Vincent” in Quincie-en-Beaujolais near the Cru Brouilly with Southern East exposure with soil composed of clay and granitic sand. All hand-harvested, with grapes directly pressed at arrival in the cellar. Fermentation with native yeasts followed by partial aging in barrels and stainless steel vats on lees for six months. The result is a lovely and round Chardonnay with aromas and flavors of white flower, almond, apple and citrus. The palate is juicy with a slight buttery texture and some mineral and smoky notes. For goat cheese, seafood, fish, chicken and roast veggies.
About: Robert Perroud's family has been a vigneron for seven generations. His estate dates back to 1789 during the French Revolution. The estate is located in "Les Balloquets" at the foot of Brouilly where he lives with his family in a bioclimatic house surrounded by vineyards. All the work is done by hand. Robert likes to feel in harmony with nature, taking the time to observe and develop the biodiversity in the vines, practicing a sustainable, eco-friendly wine growing. In the estate, only two people work the vines: Robert and his assistant, Frederick. A the grapes are picked by hand. The winemaking is very traditional, with aging in wooden vats or barrels and bottling by hand on the estate.
