2020 LAURENT GAUTHIER MORGON "COTE DU PY- VIEILLES VIGNES"

2020 LAURENT GAUTHIER MORGON "COTE DU PY- VIEILLES VIGNES", BEAUJOLAIS, BURGUNDY, FRANCE. 100% Gamay.

About The Gauthier family owns the best plot and exposure on the famed Cote de Py hill of Morgon. Born on the Cote, Laurent Gauthier cultivates his Gamay vines on 2 ha of east-facing alluvial schist soils. The wine ferments in oak vats then goes in to large old foudre to age. Powerful and structured, this wine drinks well now with food but is really built to age. Decant to allow the fruit to really shine. Recommended with cassoulet, duck confit, games, lamb, rabbit, and steak.

Deep robe with bluish tints. The nose recalls aromas from Provence with notes of cedar, spices and garrigue. Aromas of cherry and raspberry. The wide variety of the aromas can be surprising. The attack is powerful whereas the mouth offers a remarkable range of flavours: very complex and enjoyable. The finish extends into notes of spices and black berries. Beautiful tannins ensure a very long life to this exceptional bottle. To be served with Casserole dishes and cheese. Try with lamb stew, game and goat’s cheese. Serve at 16°C. (Importer)
