2015 BOSQUET DES PAPES "MON GRAND PERE" CHATEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE

2015 BOSQUET DES PAPES "MON GRAND PERE" CHATEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE, RHONE VALLEY, FRANCE. 98% Grenache, 2% Cinsault and Clairette.

Bosquets des Papes A la Gloire de mon Grand-Pere is made from close to 100% Grenache, with some Cinsault and Clairette tossed in for good measure. The vines are planted in the Gardiole lieu-dit. The wine is aged in a combination of tank, vat, foudres and demi-muids for 12 months. The production is close to 650 cases per year.

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Made from mostly Grenache, the 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape A La Gloire de Mon Grand-Père is another beauty that's up with the crème de las crème of the vintage. Kirsch, strawberries, dried flowers and spice notes give way to a full-bodied, supple, sexy red that has sweet tannin and a great finish. While it's a big, rich wine, it glides across the palate and is never heavy. It should keep for 10-15 years. This estate is managed by the larger than life Nicolas Boiron and his wines span the gauntlet from very traditional and old-school (Chante le Merle) to polished and modern (La Folie). This common theme across all the releases is incredibly high-quality." (10/2017)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bosquet des Papes was successful across the board in 2015, as all of the four wines stood out in my blind tastings. My favorite (by a nose) was the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape A la Gloire de Mon Grandpere, which is 98% Grenache. On top of its lovely floral and cherry aromas, the mid-palate boasts incredible lushness and suppleness, then adds in complex spice elements. It's long, silky and only the slightest bit warm on the finish. It should make it to 2030, but there's no real need to wait." (JC, 10/2017)

92-94 points Vinous Media: "(made with 50 percent whole clusters) Deep ruby. Powerful red and dark berry aromas are complicated by hints of smoky minerals, incense and lavender, and a subtle hint of white pepper develops with air. Juicy and concentrated yet lithe, offering sappy black raspberry, cherry compote and floral pastille flavors and a touch of allspice. The long, focused finish features resonating floral and dark berry notes and pliant tannins that emerge slowly and steadily. (JR, 03/2017)

94 points Wine Spectator:"Lush and silky in feel, with creamed plum, raspberry and boysenberry fruit flavors gliding atop a very refined structure. Light anise, rooibos tea, bergamot and mulled blood orange notes deliver waves of nuance through the finish. Seductive." (JM, 09/2017)
