2018 SCARBOLO PINOT GRIGIO

2018 SCARBOLO PINOT GRIGIO, FRIULI-VENEZIA GIULIA, ITALY. 100% Pinot Grigio.

Italy’s most famous white wine, Pinot Grigio is appreciated all over the world for its light, very crisp and dry taste. In the heart of the Friulian plains on the right bank of the river Torre, just south of the Colli Orientali, Valter Scarbolo cultivates over 25 ha of vineyards grown in red clay soils mixed with alluvial deposits, minerals and chalk. The climate is dry and ventilated with alternating temperate winds of cool breezes from the east and warm marine breezes from the Adriatic. The high-draining soils and microclimate are ideal conditions for grapes to ripen slowly, resulting in more balanced aromas and richer flavors. Aged on the lees in stainless steel for six months with frequent stirring, this Pinot Grigio offers ripe apple and honey aromas and flavors, balanced by an elegant mineral undertones. It's got nice richness and a creamy mouthfeel from lees aging. Refreshing and dry, this is the perfect wine to serve as an aperitif or to pair with soups, raw seafood appetizers, poultry and fish dishes.
