2014 QUINTA SARDONIA SARDON DE DUERO CASTILLA Y LEON, SPAIN. 69% Tempranillo, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 1% Malbec. (Certified Organic/Demeter Certified Biodynamic)
Spontaneous fermentation with wild yeast, aged 19 months in fine grain French oak and concrete egg. Aged for 18 months in 100% French oak that is 50% new and 50% second fill it is a bold, smoky and meaty wine with notable balance and finesse. The second wine of the property, QS2, is mainly Tinto Fino with up to 20% of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Aged in used French oak and amphorae, it is more red fruit than black or blue, velvety on the palate with a floral vibrancy and long finish.
About: Founded in 1998 by famed winemaker Peter Sisseck and located within the "Golden Mile" of the Duero River. EU Certified Organic and Demeter Certified Biodynamic. "Sardon" is a local plant known for its relaxing properties.
