2016 ANDREA FELICI VERDICCHIO DI CASTELLI DI JESI
91 points Vinous Media: "Medium straw-yellow. White flowers and almond dominate the nose. Enters the mouth juicy and fresh, then turns bigger and rounder, showing a suave, glyceral mouthfeel to the ripe apple and pear flavors. Laser-like acidity keep this wine light and lively on the palate. The finish is long and extremely saline." (2014 vintage, 07/2015)
Wine Spectator: "Light-bodied and zesty, with a floral overtone and a creamy mix of ripe melon, white peach, pastry cream and pickled ginger. Offers a crisp, stony finish." (11/2016)
Acknowledged as a leader in the region with multiple Tre Bicchieri awards: The Andrea Felici Classico is a stunning example of the region and makes friends among all who taste it. Coming from the high elevation site in Apiro, the Classico is a mix of old and younger vines. After harvest by hand, it is given a short soak on the skins before pressing and is fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts. The wine is then aged on the lees for three months and in the bottle another two prior to release. This wine demonstrates freshness from the high elevation and a Riesling-like minerality of the Marche hills. A perfect summer sipper, the wine matches seamlessly with the pesce crudo and fresh seafood of the nearby Adriatic. (Importer)
