2012 AMERIO MARIO "MAGIALE" BARBERA D'ALBA, PIEDMONT, ITALY. 100% Barbera
Aged for a minimum of one year in small French oak, this elegant Barbera displays great depth and texture, with more fruit concentration, flavor intensity and tannin than typical Barberas. Oak aging adds vanilla and spicy complexity for a style that drinks well now, but could age further in bottle. Very classy Barbera.
About the Producer: The Amerio Mario Cascina Serra cà Nova Wine Company is situated in Neive in Piedmont and occupies nine hectares of land, six of which are specialised vineyards: Vigna Costa (Dolcetto), the Serracanova and Vigna della Rocca (Barbera) as well as the Surì Canova (Barbaresco), the pride of the estate. Their vineyards enjoy the best south, south-westerly exposure.
The wine making process employs innovative techniques, without abandoning the old enological traditions. They take advantage of modern technology in our cellars; using temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and low-pressure presses. The Barbera is matured for at least 12 months in 220 litre French "Allier" barrels, the Barbaresco is matured for at least 18 months in 500 litre tanks. (Importer)
